3 simple reasons your website is turning your customers away

With people having more and more distractions, there are always more reasons why customers might not find your website or online presence. Is your website not working for them?

What is even worse though, is when they find you and you put them off at first glance. If a user has a poor experience, they’re unlikely to try and find you again, they’ll go to your next competitor – and trust me, if your competitor is getting it right, they’ll keep going back to them.

There are many reasons why a customer might be put off when they visit your site, here are the three most basic things you have to be getting right:

Speed

People have limited time and in the modern world they expect their information fast, and at their fingertips. They haven’t got time to be wasting valuable seconds waiting for your website to load. It’s easy to presume a website not working if it isn’t performing fast enough: say goodbye to your user.

Design

If you want people to trust in your product, it’s going to have to look good and so is its wrapper – your website. This comes down to confidence in your business. If your website looks great, you’re taking a huge step towards a positive conversion with your customer.

Navigation

Have you ever found exactly what you’re looking for at a jumble sale? Maybe, but it was probably down to luck, not because it was on display where you expected to find it. The same goes for your website. If your customer can’t find what they’re looking for easily, they’re only going to get frustrated, or worse still leave to look elsewhere.

Don’t leave things down to luck. Make sure your customers have the best possible experience and can easily navigate to what they are looking for.

There are many other ways in which to optimise your website and simplify the customer experience. That’s for another time.
